Too many thoughts go to waste
before finding any paper
that I can't get back,
can't remember.
So I drink red wine
with peaches in it
now that it's summer
turning my teeth purple,
hoping it will relax me
just enought to get those
creative nectars flowing.
But it just makes me tired
and sleepy or too drunk to
hold my pencil,
which is all the same
to me
because I have to keep
sharpening the damned thing
anyway, and I can't find
my eraser.

love this flow of thoughts. i feel the same way. but hey sometimes it's good to not have an eraser because you might be taking out something that could be good.
great one.
Mystique: yeah, that's what I do too. And it's always right on that verge of being too sleepy write it down.
It's yummy, give it a try.
Hey Hun, haha, get it. technically the wine really doesn't help me focus. i'm actually best focused when i'm not under the influence of anything.
Lorean, it has to be a specific eraser. There's usually random phrases that will pop in my head and i'll work from there.
Red wine and peachess...hmm...must add that to my list of exotica to be tried :)
I hate it when I get bored of a thought/idea. Something grabs my attention, and I have brilliant ideas that i wnat to pen down...but then I forget, or Im too buy...and later, it all seems like crap !
liked the langourous note in this one. liked its downy flavour, like sleeping on a meadow on a summer day after a picnic.
am so tempted by the peaches in red wine, now i musnt think about that!

Ash, I think we can all relate that, right? :)
Gulnaz: thanks! its pretty darned tasty. Especially eating the peaches after they've been soaking.
DeeMMMM! My god! Every time I read something of yours it just slaps me into submission, then slaps me more until I giddishly crave it. This is soooo good. Its like trying to follow your meandering thoughts following your meandering thoughts... From one meanderer to another... slap me again! ! !
Jenn, I know this feeling ALL to well! The wine with peaches was a common staple at many of my relatives homes in Italy.
Potted, thanks a lot and thanks for visiting, I'll check yours out too!
Jaxe... look over there, to your left. ~deem sucker slaps jaxe~
thanks so much. I have a full time opportunity for you to take over as CEO of that self deprecating voice in my head.
The last lines were very funny! Made me laugh out loud. I love the narrative here. I can picture myself in this piece.
I can picture you in it too, as a writer, ya know? these were my exact thoughts (somewhat) as i sat with nothing to write about. and i still cant find that damn eraser.

You can picture ME, in YOUR poem? I am flattered.
Do I look good?
Haha, meaning there's a common feeling in it amongst all writers.
DeeMer, how about a lease w/option to buy (on the self deprecating opening) LMAO!! My people will get back to you....look forward to a fruitful and fulfilling union nonetheless... and, about this nosebleed...grrrrr.
Mr. Jaxe.
Sounds like a good deal, jaxey.
here, lemme ice that for you baby.
Well I get this too but without drinking wine
And still continue writing ..wanting to fly with my words
To any distenation that my soul can take
